Hi there!

I’m Jessica.

After 10 years of practicing with the same law firm, I have decided to venture out on my own! My boutique law firm is committed to community, family and small businesses. I have a passion for process, organization, and everything local!

I understand that each family or business system and dynamics are unique, and providing legal counsel and solutions that are tailored to the specific client is of utmost importance. I am confident that, together, we can work out viable solutions to your particular matters or concerns.

My Entrepreneurial Journey

I grew up in a family where embracing an “entrepreneurial mindset” was encouraged in all things. My family built its dream business by working tirelessly and staying loyal to their beliefs and I was fortunate enough to learn from their hard work and perseverance. I was committed to doing the same and willing to work hard for it. This lead me to earn dual degrees in Civil Law and Common Law and to eventually work towards building my own dream business.

I pride myself on building strong and lasting relationships with my clients as I want to be the one you call for legal counsel through all the changes and events life can bring to your family or your business.

Education & Memberships

I completed my studies at the University of Ottawa (I am a Gee-Gee for all future time!) and was fortunate to immerse from the civil law school into the common law tradition in 2010. I hold a degree in civil law from the Faculty of Civil Law and a Juris Doctor degree from the National Program, Common Law Section. I was called to the Ontario Bar in 2012.

I am a member of the Canadian Bar Association, the Ontario Bar Association, and The County of Carleton Law Association. I am also a member of the ForeverCHEO Legacy Advisory Committee and of the Ottawa Estate Planning Council. I volunteer monthly with ProBono Ontario at the Wills and Estates Clinic and Hotline.

Interesting fact about me: I used to be a professional figure skater with Disney On Ice!

Community over Competition

I have realized that supporting and empowering others does not take away from blessings coming our way. In fact, I have learned that in order to grow and move forward, it is essential to give back and to inspire one another. If you’re a lawyer or small business owner, feel free to reach out - I am always interested in gathering with other motivated entrepreneurs with the intention to work and create shared value for the benefit of our community. I am not interested in competing with anyone. I hope we all make it!

Things we may have in common: a need for quiet time, a passion for process, a love of the mountains, a fondness for reading autobiographies, a sentimental attachment to family traditions, an interest in people’s story, admiration for the benevolent, an appreciation for a beautifully set table, a comfort of being home.
